STANDARD PACKAGE FOR ONLINE ADVERTISING:

Banners rotate run of site. The banners rotate dynamically each time a page is reloaded. The banners can be linked directly to each advertiser's Web site.

SPECIFICATIONS AND SUPPORTED FORMATS FOR ONLINE ADS

Enliven

Subject to testing and editorial approval, Enliven banners that serve animation, sound, video and drop-down menus are accepted.
Gif, Animated Gif, JPEG

Compressed files in the .gif and .jpeg format are accepted. Files must adhere to all size and banner specs, and gif banners are given a maximum looping of 4.

HTML and DHTML

Standard HTML can be served on The Vine Times site. All HTML banners should be tested on various kinds of browser version before being sent to ad production. We can also serve Dynamic HTML, which can extend the interactivity of a normal HTML banner. These ads are accepted with editorial approval. In most circumstances, banner graphics cannot extend beyond the designated banner space.

Shockwave

Shockwave enables web pages to include multimedia programming such as Flash. TVT accepts rich media that requires Shockwave to display the creative. However, all rich media must include formatting that instantly recognizes if a browser is Shockwave enabled. If the browser does not have Shockwave installation, a default gif must be served automatically.

Flash

Banner ads using Flash animation are accepted. Displayed using a plug-in such as Shockwave, Flash allows interactivity and frame by frame animation.

The HTML/JavaScript for these banners must be supplied by the advertiser/agency before we can continue testing. The HTML/JavaScript should include parameters to set standard Flash features, the click-through information, and any other features you wish to include.

Java and Javascript

Advertisers may use java programming language to animate banners. Java allows flexibility with ad design because it is completely self-contained and runs in the browser's available memory space.

All file locations used in the java applet must be passed to the applet in parameters since the html, applet, and images won't necessarily be in the same directory. Specifically, don't use getDocumentBase. getCodeBase should also be avoided. Instead, the full path of all needed resources should be accepted as parameters.

Because users can disable Java, a backup .gif must be supplied.
Banners created with the scripting language Javascript can enable dynamic content advertising to run on the site without interfering with the site content.

Advertisers must include parameters for click-through locations so that we can implement our tracking redirector.

Unicast

The Vine Times site allows banners using Unicast technology, including Interstitials and Superstitials. Interstitials are daughter windows served between the loading of web pages, and must adhere to our size specs so as not to slow the loading of the new page.

Because Superstitials only download when the browser is idle, they are also accepted. All Unicast creative must be appended to a 468x60 banner in order to be served on The Vine Times website.

VRML

Banners using Virtual Reality Modeling Language to show 3-D graphics are accepted, but must include formatting that can detect if a browser has Shockwave or other necessary plug-ins.

Daughter Window

Daughter Windows are accepted. The Daughter window must accompany a 468x60 banner, from which it will be launched when the page is loaded. Daughter Windows should not exceed 225x225, (the width and length can vary as long as the window does not exceed 225 pixels), and should be 15K or under.

Real Audio/Real Video

468x60 banners that contain audio and video are accepted. Sound and Video should be enabled by user commands only.
